Electronics Recycling
City of Albany Residents: Don't place that television or other electronics at the curb for collections.
Pursuant to the New York State Electonics Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act as of January 1, 2015, consumers may no longer dispose of electronics in landfills, in the trash, or at the curbside for trash pick up. City of Albany residents have several options to recycle their unwanted electronics:
- Electronic items can be dropped off at the Department of General Services at 1 Richard Conners Blvd. Albany, NY 12204. Residents must show ID. Register at the front desk during regular business hours, M- F, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- There are several Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Drop-off Events, all held at the Rapp Road Landfill. Everyone must pre-register for these drop-off events. To register, click here.
- Below is a list of collection sites within the Capital Region that collect electronics. Not all sites collect all types of electronics, so please get in touch with the company before drop off to ensure hours of operation and acceptance of materials. Some collection fees may apply.
