Household Hazardous Waste

The City of Albany offers 9 free Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events each year as a way for Albany residents to

dispose of HHW in an easy, safe and responsible way.

LOCATION OF EVENTS

City of Albany Landfill

525 Rapp Road

Albany, New York 12205

Time of Events: 4:00pm to 7:00pm

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

DGS provides this service to City of Albany residents only. Small quantity generators (SQG) -businesses that generate less than 32 gallons a month - of hazardous waste may participate, but will be charged a fee. NOTE: SQGs must register by calling (518) 434-2489.

PRE-REGISTER FOR DROP OFF EVENTS:

To participate in one of the collection events you must pre-register:

Register by phone by calling (518) 434-2489

(Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm)

Phone registration is closed the Friday before each event and online registration is closed the Tuesday before each event.

(Registration could close earlier if maximum capacity is reached for the event)

It is our collective responsibility to dispose of HHW responsibly. HHW should never be placed curbside. When disposed of improperly the chemicals contained in hazardous materials can contaminate our water and air and cause damage to human health and the environment.
