Albany Reuses

Mayor Kathy Sheehan has announced a new waste reduction and reuse program that aims to reduce what ends up in the City’s Rapp Road Landfill.

Recycling Symbol The recycling symbol consists of three arrows, each representing a different aspect of the process.

The first arrow represents the concept of reduce; the second represents reuse, and the third means recycle.

The City of Albany is proud to announce Drop It - Swap It, a new event that will help establish the third side of the triangle: reuse.

This is a free community event where the public's invited to bring clean, reusable, portable items such as clothing, housewares, games, books, & toys that you no longer need, and take home something new to you, free! Residents do not have to bring something to take something.

As part of the Re-image Waste Reduction and Recycling initiative, a new compost element has been introduced where residents will have multiple options to divert their food waste by composting.

Residents wishing to participate will have the opportunity to backyard compost, drop off their food scraps at designated locations, or have them collected at their door.

Mayor Sheehan introduces two new city employees, who by example, will help show us the best ways to Recycle More & Waste Less.

Mayor Kathy Sheehan Announced a

Re-Imagined Recycling & Waste Reduction Program.

City of Albany, Department of General Services will be engaging residents on ways they can improve their recycling and reduce the amount of waste into the waste stream.

Through communication and community engagement we will focus on an education campaign targeting recycling, anti-single use, waste reduction, food waste composting, food donation and textile recycling.
