ALBANY RECYCLES PROGRAMS

GARBAGE COLLECTION

The City of Albany collects garbage from residential dwellings with four (4) units or less located on a single property. Excessive quantities of trash are subject to billing and a fine up to $625.00. Trash should be placed curbside, after 7:00 pm or dusk (which ever occurs first) but before 12:00 am midnight, the evening prior to the designated waste collection and recycling day. 

RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL RECYCLING

The City of Albany provides curbside recycling collection to residents (dwellings with four (4) units or less located on a single property). Recycling should be placed curbside not prior to 7pm or dusk, which ever occurs first, on the evening prior to your collection day. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ELECTRONICS RECYCLING

City of Albany Residents: Don't place that television or other electronics at the curb for collection you now have several good options to recycle your unwanted electronics.

 

 

 

 

 

 

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE/ELECTRONICS

Drop off events from from 4:00pm-7:00pm and take place at the City of Albany Rapp Road Landfill. At no time should hazardous waste or electronics be placed curbside. PAPER SHREDDING

The City of Albany Department of General Services sponsors two (2) FREE Paper Shredding events each year. Albany residents can bring documents to be shredded and they will be shredded on site. DGS also collects hard and soft cover books for recycling. Books are NOT shredded.


YARDWASTE COLLECTION

The City of Albany, Department of General Serviceswould like you to know that residents are NOTpermitted to rake or place their yeard wastes loosely into the city streets for collection. 

 

 

 

 

COMPOST FACILITY

City of Albany compost is pure yard waste compost. Only brush, branches, leaves, and grass clippings collected from Albany residents or deposited directly at the Compost Facility are used to make City of Albany Compost.

 

 

 

RAPP ROAD LANDFILL

As part of the solid waste management system, the City of Albany operates a landfill facility on Rapp Road within the city. This landfill, which is fully permitted by the NYSDEC, is anticipated to be able to provide relatively low cost, reliable and environmentally sound waste disposal capacity for the Planning Unit until the end of 2016.
